If you’re anything like me, then you don’t have time to apply 24898493293 beauty products on your face – very much unlike those make-up videos by YouTube or Instagram beauty gurus that go viral.
Seriously – who has the time to spend an hour every morning, strobing, contouring, concealing, blending?
A study has shown women need at least 21 minutes to get ready, 54 minutes preparing for a girls’ night out, and 59 minutes for a romantic evening.
As any LadyBoss knows — time is money, and money is time! Save precious time and money with these 5 beauty hacks!
Multi-tasking products are like the Swiss Army Knives of beauty products, and here to save all busy women from overfilled make-up bags and cluttered dressing tables
Tip #1: Save Time With Multi-Tasking Products
Multi-tasking make-up products are like the Swiss Army Knives of beauty products, and here to save all busy women from overfilled make-up bags and cluttered dressing tables!
For example, other than loose powder, I only apply 2 other products as my make-up base.
In the morning, I save time with a BB Cream – an all-in-1 facial cosmetic product to replace serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation and sunblock. The result is that my skin is definitely less prone to break-outs, and is moisturised throughout the day. BB Creams are so popular that they make up 13% of the beauty market in South Korea, and Korean companies are even cashing in on BB Creams for men!
I also apply a concealer for the delicate eye area, which is already formulated with eye cream, in its very own applicator (because who has the time to use other applicators?)
My personal fave is Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind, which is super-concentrated with goji berry to hydrate the skin, while the exclusive applicator covers, fills, and smoothes to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It retails for about $19.90 – such a pocket-friendly price.
Dry Shampoo is essentially a dry substance that cleans your hair without water, by absorbing oil from your scalp and hair, and making it look and feel fresh again.
Tip #2: Freshen Up With A Beauty Facial Mist and Dry Shampoo
What do you do when you have an evening event after work, and you just don’t have the time to go home for a shower? For me, I find other ways to freshen up.
For example, I use Dry Shampoo – essentially a dry substance that cleans your hair without water, by absorbing oil from your scalp and hair, and making it look and feel fresh again.
To freshen up my skin I use a facial mist, which can keep your skin and make-up looking fresh and hydrated. There are many brands out there – but I personally use one blended by Scentuary Spa, a spa near my home. The mist is infused with essential oils, and leaves skin refreshed and smelling of a rose and geranium scent.
Tip#3: Curl Hair While You Sleep
If you have long to shoulder length hair, and you spend way too much time trying to curl or make it look presentable in the morning, the other way to do is to either braid or tie your hair into loose buns at night after a shower at night, right before you sleep.
The result? Naturally curly hair in the morning. Simply ‘seal’ it with a bit of hairspray or make it look more shiny with some hair oils in the morning.
This can save you up to 30 minutes of fiddling around with your hair, or dealing with hair curlers while in a rush!
Say yes to more social engagements by putting together a simple ‘glam bag’ at work – think of it as your glam tool kit.
Tip #4: Have A Glam Bag At Work
Busy women also tend to have last-minute invitations to events, and get-togethers. Say yes to more social engagements by putting together a simple ‘glam bag’ at work – – think of it as your glam tool kit.
Basically, make sure you have several make-up or beauty items in this bag that you can use in case of last-minute events, such as eyeshadow, dry shampoo, hair spray, a comb, maybe even fancier earrings for a cocktail event. All it takes is as little as a few items to help you transform from drab to divine.
Another hack I love is getting my hair washed and blown during lunchtime, especially if I’m having a bad hair day
Tip #5: Get Your Hair Washed & Blown At Lunchtime
Another hack I love is getting my hair washed and blown during lunchtime, especially if I’m having a bad hair day, and need to attend an evening event or social engagement, and don’t have the time to go home and get ready again.
Who doesn’t love getting a head massage, your hair shampooed and conditioned, and then lovingly and fabulously blow-dried?
I find that with a service as simple as this, there’s not much of a difference in quality from the ‘budget’ salons and fancier ones – my favourite salon at Raffles Place does this for just $15 – what a steal!
