Jennifer Loh is currently the Managing Director of Aesthetic Medical Holdings who oversees 40 aesthetics clinics around the world under the brand names of NOVU Medical Aesthetic Clinic, PPP by NOVU and P Clinic. Jennifer is a social entrepreneur with a background in real estate development and investments.

LadyBoss spoke to Jennifer about NOVU and staying ahead of the curve.

NOVU is driven by our vision of making good, healthy skin accessible to all, and to support the holistic wellbeing of our patients.

Q: Tell us more about NOVU. How long you’ve been doing it, and who your clients are?

A: NOVU is Asia’s largest medical skincare company with 40 locations across the globe; and over 6 million protocols delivered. NOVU has been in the market since 2010 and has evolved since its early days as PPP Laser Clinic into a vertically integrated company that oversees the entire supply chain, including R&D of products, machines and treatment protocols that are delivered worldwide. Our mission is to make medical aesthetics accessible, through treatments and products, and be a lifelong partner of our customers and patients from the time they are teenagers through the maturing ages.

It has been over a year since I joined the company and it has been a really challenging time with the restructuring and revamping of the company. But it has also been an extremely rewarding experience especially when we hear from patients about how they enjoy the changes and all the new treatments we have introduced.

Q: Tell us more about how NOVU is growing since it was first set-up?

NOVU has been growing vertically to incorporate R&D of products and technology. It has also been growing horizontally through increasing numbers of channels for products internationally and franchising of NOVU outlets overseas. In addition, we constantly challenge ourselves to stay at the forefront of advances in aesthetics practice and the technology behind it.

Q: What sparked your interest in medical aesthetic? Tell us more about the inspiration behind NOVU.

Medical aesthetics has been rapidly evolving as patients seek less downtime and less invasive treatment options. This is an exciting field and certainly one with much potential as we seek to support our patients in their journey to healthier skin while maintaining a balanced and normal lifestyle. We help patients achieve visible results on their skin and at the same time attain confidence and assurance that comes from feeling better both inside out.

NOVU is driven by our vision of making good, healthy skin accessible to all, and to support the holistic wellbeing of our patients.

As the leading medical skincare brand which has delivered millions of protocols all over Asia, our team of doctors internationally have immense experience and constantly seek better protocols and treatments for our patients.

Q: What are some of NOVU’s popular treatments?

A: NOVU’s most popular treatments have been rapidly changing over the past year. We have introduced over 15 new treatments, and have moved from a one-size-fits-all quick laser and light treatment, to a palette of non- and minimally–invasive treatments and products to serve our patients more holistically with our 360 Solution. This includes our Glazo Peel treatment which incorporates the use of a mask with our unique formulation containing Kakadu plum extract before a laser treatment. The Glazo Peel treatment is fast becoming one of our top requested treatments as it provides an instant and sustained glow, with deep cleansing and brightening effects.

Our new suite of products and treatments under the 360 Solution aim to provide value and customisable treatment and maintenance plans for all skin concerns which we classify under Colour, Consistency and Contour.

Q: How do you maintain service standards and client satisfaction in NOVU?

We maintain service standards through continual training and sharing of knowledge base among our team leaders, staff and doctors. We also conduct monthly town halls to reinforce company culture and messaging to our patients.

Q: How does NOVU ensure innovation to constantly search for better technology in skincare?

As the leading medical skincare brand which has delivered millions of protocols all over Asia, our team of doctors internationally have immense experience and constantly seek better protocols and treatments for our patients. The medical board advises and works closely with our team of engineers and product specialists in Korea and Taiwan to constantly research and develop new products, treatment delivery methods and technology.

Q: How is NOVU different from other aesthetic retailers that we know?

A: NOVU is backed by an international team of doctors. We are interested in supporting our patients in their aesthetics needs, but more importantly in the holistic wellness of our patients, and the community around us. We have established a platform for giving back to the Arts in our community called Art Meets Aesthetics. Through this platform, we support local arts and artists, and also nurture a community that appreciates the different art-forms and aesthetics in the arts.

Earlier this year, NOVU collaborated with Singapore 1st female finger painter, Adeline Yeo, featuring her artwork on NOVU’s paper bags. We also had a big party in March at Ce La Vi where Adeline Yeo performed her signature finger painting live, along with our product launch. We are also collaborating with Singapore Repertory Theatre & Esplanade on its local musical production, Forbidden City: Portrait of An Empress which will start its performance in August.

Q: In terms of sales & marketing, how do you reach your clients, and what works?

A: We have a current database of about 100,000 patients in Singapore, and almost 800,000 around the world. In different countries, we have different ways of reaching our patients, but social media is the most engaging across the board. However, nothing beats face to face interaction with our patients in our clinics.

Q: Where do you see the future of NOVU? Any plans in the near future?

A: NOVU will be launching new products and treatments, including body treatments and products in the very near future. We are extremely excited to share more about these plans which support whole body aesthetics for our patients.

In line with our holistic look at patient wellness, we are in the midst of working with Hyphen Architects to redesign our clinics and the experience of visiting a clinic to infuse healing elements in the environment through lightscape, soundscape and scentscape.

Q: Tell us about your Number 1 business challenge?

A: Our top business challenge is to continually challenge ourselves to stay ahead of the curve. This is a challenge we pose to ourselves to offer the best value and most effective treatments to our patients.

Q: What motivates you personally?

What motivates me most personally is that we deliver the utmost value and results to our customers, and at the same time build a community of collaborators among partners, because it is always much more rewarding when we build positive relationships around us.
